And no, I don't mean that I am a guy and I am part of the cutesy couples who say they are both pregnant. Kelly did not take her meds very well while she was traveling, and for a bit after, to the point there were painful side effects. Apparently that and me ovulating on both sides was enough of a fertility boost to do the trick.
The due date is May 15, 2007, which, frankly, is about the ideal. Loren will be four, and I will not be hugely pregnant during the hottest days of summer. It also means that if I keep working at the same company, I will have most of the summer off.
I have applied for another position in this same company as my job may be going away to Bangalore. If I get the job, it means a big promotion, and right now it looks like whether I get the job rests on what the other candidates look like and if they think my coding skills can meet the tasks. I think I can get them up to speed, but if a really amazing coder applies, they may go with that person. On the other hand, I do have specialized knowledge that literally no other applicant will have and they want f0r this position. So whoever gets this position will be in a position of needing to learn a lot. I hope they choose me.
The biggest hurdle is passed. I got through the HR screener and they said the double promotion that would be needed for me to hold this job would be permitted if I am the very best candidate. I would think that I would need to be the very best candidate for the job anyway.
And speaking of the biggest hurdles, I had an ultrasound and saw my baby's heart beating. This means that the risk of miscarriage is small. Most of the big hurdles have been passed and I just need to take care and all will be well.

In the park
So, the other day in the park, I was there with Kelly and Loren was playing. She was alternately playing with a ball and climbing the equipment. Kelly and I were spotting her, when she wanted it, and when she did not, talked and occasionally kissed. The only other person in the park was a well built man shooting hoops, badly, by himself sans shirt. Hey, beats the heck out of jazzercize.
So, after a while, he came over and asked, "Who has the beautiful little girl?"
I reply, "We do; she is ours."
He said, "So you both are professing* to be her mother?"
I reply, "Yes. Yes, we are."
So he replies, "Then she is one very lucky little girl," and left to go shoot more hoops.
*He actually said "professing"; it takes all kinds.
